8 days CULTURAL HERITAGE TOURS AND WINE TASTING - CROATIA
 
1. day - Transfer from airport Brnik Ljubljana/Slovenia to Opatija/Croatia.
We start the day with a tour of „Bela Ljubljana.” A drive through the streets of this sunny city reminds us of the buildings of both Vienna and Prague. We go
up to the city’s highest point to visit the 16th century castle, then descend to the lower city to see Trg Naradnih Herojev, the square housing one of the worlds
newest parliaments. We continue on foot to visit the old town with its large university, philharmonic hall, and beautiful square of the three bridges. Across the
bridge in the old town we will see the city cathedral. Depart from Ljubljana to Opatija, dinner and overnight in Opatija.
2. day - Full day Istra tour
All day excursion exploring Istrian towns. villages, vineyards and craftsmen. Enjoy delicious regional cuisine for lunch followed by opportunities to taste and
buy local truffles, olive oils and wines. Time to browse the charming hill-town of Groznjan, nearly a ghost town twenty years ago, now transformed into an
artists colony. It’s now bustling with artists galleries, handmade jewelry shops and gourmet food shops. Dinner and overnight in Opatija.
3. day - Full day Krk and Mali Lošinj /Islands) tour
Our first stop is the island of Krk where we’ll enjoy a lunch and wine tasting at one of the premier eateries of the region. Restaurant Nada is set in a 100-yearold
stone building near the sea and serves fresh lamb, fish and scampi along with their famous white Zlahtina wine. A short ferry ride brings us to Cres Island
where we will have a scenic ride down to Losinj Island, with lush vegetation, pine trees, crystal-clear sea and beautiful old stone houses on a narrow bay.
Dinner and overnight in Opatija.
4. day - Full day Kastav
After breakfast depart to Kastav, town with rich tradition and a recognisable identity. Throughout its history, Kastav has been an administrative, commercial
and cultural hub of Istria and Primorje. It has been and it still is the centre of the Croatian national question, which enabled the town to retain its autonomy,
language and customs even when other larger towns started to emerge in its surroundings. Wine tasting and traditional snack. Return to Opatija. Dinner and
overnight in Opatija.
5. day - Zagreb - Varaždin
After breakfast we depart to Zagreb. Our First stop is on Plešivica Wine Road. Plešivica offers a broad spectrum of varieties—Graševina, Chardonnay, Rhine
Riesling, Neuburger, Pinot gris, Pinot blanc, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon, Zeleni Silvanac, Žuti Plavec. Indeed, one wine deserves special mention: the Portugizac,
the first wine of the season. After tasting wine and lunch we continue to Zagreb - city tour Croatian capital city, including the fortified Upper Town, the
city’s historical centre, St Mark’s church with multi-coloured roof, the Cathedral, Croatian National Theatre and University. Dinner and overnight in Zagreb.
6. day - Trakošćan - Varaždin
After breakfast whole day excursion to the Trakošćan castle and Varaždin. Of fall the ancestral homes of the Croatian Zagorje, Trakošćan is the best-known
and the most frequently visited. We remember it for its owners, the Drašković family, alongside the Zrinskis the best-known Croatian feudal family. We see it
as the incarnation of nineteenth - century Romanticism, as the perfect synthesis of nature and architecture., Trakošćan is a cultural monument of the highest
category. Depart to Varaždin - city tour.
The buildings, museums, music and flowers of Varaždin continue to offer a relaxing break from everyday life. The city’s rich history spans eight centuries. It
was home to the region’s wealthiest nobles, landowners, artisans and artists, especially in the late 1700s, when the city flourished and became the capital of
Croatia. Dinner and overnight in Zagreb.
7. day - Zagreb
Free day for exploring Zagreb. Visits to museums, galleries, parks, or enjoy a walk through the main street Ilica and shopping or just enjoying coffee and
cake. Dinner and overnight in Zagreb.
8. day - Zagreb - Brnik/Ljubljana
After breakfast transfer to Ljubljana/Brnik airport and departure
